Abstract

The purpose of this study is to 1) Describe the implementation of the Qur'an's extracurricular activities in instilling religious character and discipline in upper class students at the Sidokerto MIM, 2) Describing the cultivation of religious character and discipline through Al-Qur’an extracurricular activities for students upper class at MIM Sidokerto, 3) Describing constraints and solutions in Al-Qur’an extracurricular activities in instilling religious character and discipline in upper class students at MIM Sidokerto. The type of research used is qualitative research. The validity of the data used in this study is triangulation of techniques and sources. Collecting data through observation, interviews, documentation. Data analysis uses three components, namely data reduction, data presentation, verification and conclusion. The results of this study are 1) Implementation of the Qur'anic extracurricular activities through several stages, in the teacher planning stage do not use syllabus and lesson plans, then the implementation phase uses demonstration methods and lectures with an allocation of 1 hour. While the evaluation phase students must deposit a number of verses that are passed on to the teacher and at the end of the lesson the teacher appoints several students to read a few verses, 2) Planting religious characters through the Qur'anic extracurricular activities in the form of directing the importance and benefits of reading and practicing Al- Qur'an and accustom students to pray before and after the activity. Cultivation of character discipline through the Qur'anic extracurricular activities in the form of direction and guidance of the teacher so that students obey the rules that apply in the classroom and at school, 3) teacher constraints in instilling religious character that is there are students who do not carry the Qur'an , there are still students who have not been able to set the high and low tones in the tilawah song. The teacher's obstacle in instilling the dsiplin character is the student's fatigue and the influence of the truant friend. The teacher's solution in instilling religious character and discipline is by giving guidance every time the Al-Qur'an recitation extracurricular activities take place
