Abstract

The aims of this research is to know: (1) the criteria for developing teaching materials in the form of books on geography approach as a disaster knowladge base (2) the effectiveness material learning geography approaches to learners ini SMA N 2 Sukoharjo. This type of research is a research and development (R & D) that adopts Borg and Gall models that have been modified in Sugiyono (2017: 298). The design of this study used a Pretest Posttest Control Group Design with respondents in class X IPS 4 and X IPS 3 of SMA N 2 Sukoharjo. The data analysis technique used is the T-test. The result of this research is 1) criteria for developing instructional materials desired by students consist of 4 aspects, material aspects, language, graphics, and presentation. The presentation aspect is the most desirable aspect of students, one example of the desired presentation aspect is full color images with high quality, 2)The results of the T test (t-test) at the pretest and posttest of the control class and the experimental class showed a significant (2-tailed) result of 0,000, which means less than 0.05 so that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. The effectiveness of teaching materials in the form of books on geography approach in the control and experimental classes has increased, but a more significant increase occurred in the experimental class. The average value of the results can be pretest 60.15 and posttest results of 74.84 experienced an increase in learning outcomes by 14.6%. While the average value of the experimental class pretest 51.56 and posttest of 85 experienced an increase in learning outcomes by 33.4%
