Abstract

Attachment is a specific behavior in humans, namely the tendency and desire of someone to seek closeness with others and seek satisfaction in relationships. The first person chosen by the child in the attachment is the mother (caregiver), father or close relatives. Children with special needs are children who in education need specific services, different from children in general. This ABK experiences obstacles in learning and development. As humans, children with special needs need love and mercy. Affection in question is a form of appreciation that as human beings they have a need to be accepted in groups and it is recognized that they are the same as other children. The purpose of this study was to find out about parental attachments to the independence of Children with Special Needs. The type of research used in this study is quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. This research was conducted at the Social Service Office of Sukoharo District in May 2019. The samples in this study were 50 Children with Special Needs consisting of 32 Special Needs with severe conditions and 18 with Special Needs with mild conditions. The sampling technique in this study was using purposive sampling. The data analysis technique in this study used the chi-square test. The results of the study showed that the majority of mothers have attachments with a positive trait of 45 (90%). The results showed that the majority of Children with Special Needs with mild conditions, the majority of Children with Special Needs had independent criteria, namely 15 (83.3%) and the majority of Children with Special Needs with severe conditions, the majority of Children with Special Needs had independence with non-independent criteria 18 (56.3 %). The results of the chi square test showed that there was a significant relationship between parents' attachment to the independence of children with special needs with mild conditions. There is no significant relationship between parents' attachment to the independence of Children with Special Needs with severe conditions. There is a significant relationship between parental attactment of the independence of children with special needs and mild conditions in the Sukoharjo Social Service area. There is no significant relationship between the attactment of parents towards the independence of children with special needs with mild conditions in the Sukoharjo Social Service area.
