Abstract

Briquettes defined as fuel from solid and derived from the remnants of organic matter that subjected to the process with a certain press. Briquettes can replace the use of wood fuel and coal which has begun to increase in use. The purpose of this research to know characteristic (water level, the ashes, the heat engine, and sensory test) briquettes of water hyacinth and a rice husk variation in materials and different types of adhesive. The methodology is an experimental research method to the random complete with two factors. First factor is subtances composition, water hyacinth (75%, 50%, 25 %); a rice husk (25%, 50%, 75%) and the second factor is type of adhesive material (glue and powdery starch) twice. The results showed the best quality briquettes that have lower range in water level and the ash is 1,12% and 7,64%owned bywater hyacinth 75% a rice husk 25% with adhesive glue wood, the highest value of heat engine 3449,02 cal /g of the composition of substances in water hyacinth 25%, a rice husk 75 % with adhesive starch.
