Abstract

The aim of this research was to know effectiveness of the implementation of Contextual Teaching And Learning (CTL) by using the surrounding environment in disaster mitigation and adaptation of class XI IPS at SMA MTA surakarta. Method of the research used in this study was the experimental research which used XI IPS 1 as experimental class and XI IPS 2 as control class. Prior to the analysis, first performed the validity test, reliability test, and test for normality. Technique for analyzing data for hypothesis testing used t-test. The result of this research showed that implementation of Contextual Teaching And Learning (CTL) by using the environment in disaster mitigation and adaptation material was effective in improving the learning outcomes of XI IPS class students at SMA MTA Surakarta. This result showed that Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) strategy by using the environment in disaster mitigation and adaptation material was effective to be applied in learning process than discourse technique. The differences of the average of experimental class and control class could be seen in indicator that has been achieved. The experimental class had an average post test in the range value of 85.83 while the control class had an average post test in the range value of 71.8. The result of the study showed that the implementation of Contextual Teaching And Learning (CTL) by using the environment as learning resource was effective to be applied in geography learning in disaster mitigation and adaptation material.
