Abstract

Bagasse and corn peel is a waste with a high content of Selolusa, so it is used as a raw material in the manufacture of paper. The purpose of this research is to knowing the quality of art paper from the combination of bagasse and corn peel with PVAc adhesive and cassava powder through tensile strength test, tear resistance and sensory test. This study use the detailed random draft (RAL) method of factorial pattern with three times repetition. Factor 1: Combination of bagasse and corn peel (A), A1 (50:50), A2 (30:70), A3 (40:60). Factor 2: Adhesive material (P), P1 (PVAc 5%), P2 (cassava powder 5%). The data collection techniques on this research is qualitative descriptive. The results showed that the highest tensile strength of paper at the A3P2 treatment of 16.7547 MPa treatment, while the highest tear resistance at the A2P2 treatment of 1.97295 MPa was the most favored community paper on A2P1 treatment because people like the bright color, the fibers are not too visible, and the texture is subtle. There are any differences of the art paper quality from the comparison of bagasse and corn peel with PVAc and cassava powder on it’stensile strength, tearing strength, and sensory testing.
