Abstract
Carving is an ornamental image that uses media in the form of wood and stone consisting of concave (kruwikan) and convex (buledan) parts. The problems found in teak wood carvings in this case are regarding the implementation of the application for registration of industrial designs through the regional government in terms of industrial design laws, the level of knowledge of the craftsmen and the factors that prevent the craftsmen from registering teak wood carvings. This study uses an empirical juridical approach method whose main data sources are primary data, namely interviews and legal documents, and also uses secondary data sources which are then analyzed qualitatively aimed at producing descriptive data. From this study, the results obtained that to register industrial designs, especially teak wood carving, can be carried out through DINAKER as well as procedures and requirements set out in Law No. 31 of 2000 concerning industrial design. Looking at the level of knowledge of teak carving craftsmen, teak wood carving craftsmen do not yet know and understand industrial design, the benefits and importance of inteltual registration of property rights and the factors that prevent craftsmen from registering the results of teak carving designs.
