Abstract

Today there are more and more divorce cases from various circles ranging from ordinary people, officials to public figures. Ironically, divorced couples still have underage children, while minors must get a touch of affection from their parents, when children are teenagers they get less assistance from parents to accompany them to become adults, thus causing adolescents form his own concept. Self-concept is a picture of a person about himself that is formed when the person starts to know his environment. this study aims to understand and describe the self-concept of adolescents formed from parents who are not intact. The research method used is phenomenological qualitative where data collection is obtained from semi-structured interviews with the selection of informants using purposive sampling. Selection of informants using snowball sampling. The criteria of the informants in this study were teenagers who had parents divorced from the status of the mother remarried and no father, the father remarried while the mother was not and both parents remarried and both parents did not remarry. The self-concept of adolescents with a background of divorced parents has been able to form a teen's self-concept to be positive with the condition of divorced parents. In addition, adolescents are able to choose good or bad behavior to do. Keyword : self concept, adolescents
