Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the effect of SWD intervention and joint mobilization with SWD and TENS interventions in improving the functional abilities of knee joint osteoarthritis sufferers in the Physiotherapy Section of Jepara Hospital conducted from October to November 2007. This type of research was experimental with pre and post test design design without control group with sampling group I was given therapy with SWD and joint mobilization while group II was given SWD and TENS modalities. The results of the analysis of the influence of the SWD intervention and mobilization intervention groups showed p <0.05 (p = 0.011) while in the SWD and TENS intervention groups p <0.05 (p = 0.012) and the results of the different tests affected both groups p> 0.05 ( p = 0.671). So the conclusion is that there is no difference in influence between SWD intervention and joint mobilization with SWD and TENS in improving the functional ability of people with osteoarthritis of the knee joint
