Abstract

The use of electric motors is very much applied in the industrial world and the like. Measurement of speed (rpm) of an electric motor cannot be known for granted, a measuring instrument is needed. Speed measuring devices or commonly called tachometers sold on the market turned out to be relatively expensive and can only be seen from the measuring scale and monitor screen. It is necessary to create a measuring device that can measure the cheap rpm of an electric motor that is accurate and can be monitored wirelessly and can be accessed via a smartphone. Wireless electric motor rpm measuring devices must also be accessible easily and anywhere via an internet connection. The use of sensors that are accurate, reliable, and cost-effective becomes important and superior. Hall sensor is the right choice based on these factors. The working principle of this sensor is to calculate the PWM signal when the motor rotates based on the hall sensor electromagnetic principle. The result is a microcontroller system using a magnetic sensor or called the Hall effect Sensor to measure the speed of an electric motor that works on an IoT (Internet of Thing) basis that is low in cost to make it easier for the public.
