Abstract

Stroke is one of disease effect resulting in high mortality. Death from stroke in the world approximately 6 million in 2010 predicted will increase to 8 million in 2030. About 87% of stroke incidence are ischemic strokes. Stroke is affected by risk factors are age, gender, hypertension, hyperglycemia, hypercholesterolemia, heart disease, and smoke. The aim of this research is to know relationship of hyperglycemia and hypercholesterolemia when at the beginning entered hospital with mortality in ischemic stroke patient. The kind of this research is observational analytic non experiment with cross sectional approach, sample were taken by purposive sampling method with a total sample of 60 ischemic stroke patient, 30 ischemic stroke patient died and 30 ischemic stroke patient come home alive at RSUD Dr. Moewardi. Data were obtained from medical record of patient at range January 2018 till September 2018. Bivariate statistical analysis using Chi-Square test and multivariate statistical analysis using logistic regression test. The result of the Chi-Square test showed significant correlation between hyperglycemia and mortality of ischemic stroke patients (p = 0.019), but between hypercholesterolemia and mortality of ischemic stroke patients showed no significant correlation (p = 0.267). There is a relationship between hyperglycemia and mortality of ischemic stroke patients, but there is no relationship between hypercholesterolemia and mortality of ischemic stroke patients.
