Abstract

This research is motivated by a synthesis between university and boarding school which is currently known as student boarding schools. Colleges are identical with modernity and focus on liberal education while boarding schools are synonymous with traditional but learning emphasizes conservative attitudes. The synthesis of the two components is one of the efforts to realize a balance between morality and rationality of the students. The international student boarding school KH. Mas Mansur is one of the student boarding schools in Surakarta. Student boarding schools among the diversity of religious communities in Surakarta provide Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan education to the students who have different educational backgrounds. So that the authors formulate the objectives of this study are: (1). What are the moral values which are instilled for the students of the International Student Boarding School KH Mas Mansur? (2). What is the strategy of planting moral values in the International Student Boarding School KH Mas Mansur? This study aims to describe and analyze the value of moral education instilled on the students, a strategy used in instilling the value of moral education in KH.Mas Mansur International Student Boarding School. This research is a qualitative research that takes the background of the KH.Mas Mansur student boarding school which fosters students with diverse educational backgrounds. Data collection is done by means of interviews, documentation, group discussions, and participatory observation. Analisis data used deduktif method. The results of the study showed: 1. The values of moral education instilled in PESMA KH. Mas Mansur includes: a. Honesty; b. Responsibility; c. Work hard; d.Sincerity; e. Family. 2. The strategy used by KH. Mas Mansur PESMA in instilling the values of moral education includes: a. Islamic boarding school culture strategy, namely PESMA KH. Mas Mansur tries to make moral values into a daily culture of PESMA, such as praying together, reading the holy Qur'an, team work and giving cult. b. Active learning strategies, this strategy is used in teaching and learning activities in class and mosque, strategies used such as brainstorming, demonstrations, guest speakers and lectures. The scope of moral education instilled in mahasantri includes: Morality to Allah SWT, morality to Rasullulah, to oneself, family and others.
