Abstract

Getting a decent learning process requires high motivation to achieve it. The purpose of this study was to understand and describe parents' motivation in the selection of inclusive schools for hyperactive children. This research uses phenomenological qualitative methods. Determination of informants of this study with purposive sampling amounted to 4 parents (mothers), have hyperactive children. The method of collecting data in this study was interviews. The motivation of parents in choosing an inclusive school for their hyperactive children starts with achieving targets for how to handle and learning methods that are suitable for hyperactive children, because the academic values ​​of children are below average, from the four informants stated that they are prepared with expensive school fees. Commitment in the form of occupational therapy and physiotherapy programs, then there are facilities provided by the school both in class and outside the classroom such as playgrounds that support the movement of children, parents are ready to be responsible when children make problems in school. The parent's initiative asks the teacher about the child's progress in school, inviting the child to be open about problems or obstacles that are experienced in the school. Then the optimism that arises in parents that the child's academic value increases above the average and the energy in the child can be balanced like a normal child.
