Abstract

This research aims to : 1) tested the difference of ability to complete the math oriented of PISA in content changes and relationships in terms of gender. 2) describes the process of problem solving question of PISA in students. 3) analyze the causes of students less precise in resolving the matter of PISA. This research use a mix of research methods because using two methods of research i.e. qualitative and quantitative methods. The subject of this research grade VIII A SMP Negeri 1 Teras amounted to 28 students consisting of 6 male students and 22 female students. Data collection techniques are used tests, interviews, and documentation method. In this research the validity of data using triangulation techniques to compare test results data, interviews, and documentation. Quantitative data analysis techniques using Ttest, whereas reduction, serving until the conclusion of the withdrawal measures adapted to the Polya. The results of this research were obtained conclusions: 1) there was no difference in ability of completing a math problem-oriented content changes in PISA and the relationship between male and female students. 2) highcapable Students can meet all the indicators in the settlement of the question of maximum, medium and low skilled students not consistent in performing the stages of completion of a matter so that insufficient. 3) factors that cause students less appropriate in resolving problem is students are not accustomed to writing the information of problem, students are less scrupulous in the completion strategy, inacuracy of students in doing the calculations, as well as less appropriate in writing the conclusion.
