Abstract

The success of education itself is influenced by change and renewal in all aspects and components of education. The aspects and components of education that affect the implementation of education include: curriculum, facilities and infrastructure, teachers, students, learning models, and appropriate learning media. All aspects and components are interrelated to each other to achieve a desired educational goal. One of them is the development of technology to encourage education to provide good quality to students. The purpose of the implementation of this research is to find out student learning outcomes from the development of media diorama of earth structure material and its dynamics. The method used is research and development (R & D) research using the Thiagarajan model. The research was conducted at the Public 2 Kartasura Middle School with the subject of class VII C as the experimental class and the object of research was the teaching media of diorama in the matter of earth structure and its dynamics with the subject of Social Sciences (IPS). The method in 2 collecting data is observation, questionnaire, interview, test and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this study is the analysis technique of the T-test. The results of the study show: (1) Based on the assessment of media and material experts, the media of diorama is appropriate to be used to support the material structure of the earth and its dynamics in the learning process. (2) The value of pretest and posttest in the control class 72.44 and 80.73 showed a non-significant increase in the conventional method. (3) in the experimental class the value of the pretest obtained was 48.07 and the posttest value obtained was 78.57 where the posttest value showed that after the use of media diorama there was an increase in student learning outcomes
