Abstract

Mathematics is an important subject in the development of science and technology. One of the objectives of learning mathematics to equip students with the ability to think creatively. The ability of male and female students to solve math problem is different. The purpose of this research is to: 1) examine the differences in creative thinking skills in solving PISA-oriented mathematical problems in content quantity in terms of gender. (2) describe the ability to think creatively in solving promblems in aspects of fluency, flexibility, and originality. This type of research is mix methods. The study was conducted in clas VIII A Kartasura 2 Public Middle School consisting of 21 female students and 17 male students. The technique of collecting data uses tests,interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data use a triangulation techniques. Data analysis technique include, testing the prerequisite stages of analysis, hypothesis testing, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the results of the analysis on research, conclusion: 1) there is a difference between the ability of male and female students in solving PISA oriented math questions content quantity, the ability of male students was better than female students 2) Students with high categories both male and female can achieve fluency, flexibility and originality aspects well, the results were obtained aspects of fulency can be achieved by students proved by the students can mention the possibilities of another answer, aspects of flexibility proved by students can use differents ways of solving problems, and aspects of originality proved by students making problems which is rarely found by other students. Male students fulfilled aspects of creative thinking ability by 28,33%, while women only 16,67% Keyword: creative thingking, PISA, quantity fluency, flexibility, originality
