Abstract

ABSTRACT Modern society, which understand more concerning the importance of education for future causing increasingly mobility. Mobility activity performed by university students aimed to find education quality, which is better than those in their hometown by considering other aspects such as life cost and urban condition of the destination, which support development of knowledge there. The study aimed to : 1) analyze the characteristics of students coming from Lampung mobilizing to Surakarta 2) analyze factors influencing students to mobilize to Surakarta. Method of collecting data was survey for sample taken by non-probability of purposive sampling. The sample was students coming from Lampung who were studying in Surakarta, which were in UNS and UMS. The result of the study showed that the characteristics of mobility performer was influenced by gender and age, hometown, daily language, economy background of the family and the biggest reason for choosing UNS and UMS as the intended campus is because good University accreditation can affect one’s monility while the most dominant factor from the origin and destination areas of a student from Lampung doing mobility is a very different cost factor of living. While the most dominant factor of the hometown and the destination of the students coming from Lampung to mobile were education quality, life cost, and the very different condition. The greatest restricting factors felt by students was the different culture, especially language and parents' influence that becomes the biggest individual factor caused by the dependence of students on parents in case of life cost and tuition fee.
