Abstract

In 2014 WHO stated Indonesia was the first ranking in increase of accidents. WHO told traffic accidents in Indonesia as third killer after heart disease and tuberculosis. Data from Operasi Candi 2016 violations in Surakarta was dominated by motorcycle riders and dominated by student/teenager.This study uses descriptive quantitative method with a data collection tool in the form of an open questionnaire. Respondents in this study were determined by purposive sampling method with conditions: teenager ranging in age from 15-17 years old and can ride motorcycle. The research respondents were obtained from one of the private schools in Surakarta that allowed their students ride motorcycle to school. There were 4 classes studied with a total of 154 students and only 107 students met the requirements. The collected data is then categorized and presented as percentage data and then analyzed. The results of this study revealed that more respondents did dangerous driving than those who did safety riding. The most expressed motive for why someone does dangerous driving is haste, emotional release and sensation. Respondents who did safety riding revealed their motives to avoid various risk of accidents.
