Abstract

Usage behavior Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is essential to avoid work accidents or occupational diseases in globalization era. However, employees are not aware of these benefits. There are still many employees were not wearing PPE while doing the job. One of the factors that influence consumption behavior of PPE to employees are working period. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in employee compliance in the use of personal protective equipment in terms of years of service is less than 5 years and more than equal to 5 years. Samples taken amounted to 50 employees to 34 employees with terms of ≥5 years and 16 employees with tenure <5 years. The sampling technique in this research is the Quota sampling. this research collecting data using quantitative research methods with the use of a scale measuring tool of personal protective equipment. Data were analyzed using independent sample t-test technique. Based on analysis of data obtained significant results of employee behavior in the use of personal protective equipment in terms of tenure is 0.796 (p> 0.05). These results indicate that there is no difference in the behavior of employees in the use of personal protective equipment in terms of tenure. Good employees with tenure ≥5 years and employees with tenure <5 years are the same, they were submissive in the use of personal protective style.
