Plastic biodegradable of poly lactic acid (PLA), is a polymer derived from lactic acid, and made of raw materials such as starch. The raw materials used were starch, sorbitol as plasticizer and aquadest. This study used the amount of sorbitol of 10 mL, aquadest of 10, 20, 30 mL and 10, 12, 14, 16 gram of tapioca starch. The strongest biodegradable plastic was obtained by addition of aquadest of 10 mL, while the highest elongation was using aquadest of 30 mL and starch flour of 10 grams. Based on these results, the elongation value and the tensile strength of biodegradable plastic products are inversely proportional. This is affected by the composition of the three ingredients. The aquadest not only acts as a solvent but also as a plasticizer. The addition of plasticizers is expected to improve the elongation of biodegradable plastics. In applying plastic by laminating, it is expected to be a substitute for oil-coated plastic paper as a food wrap. Biodegradable plastic can reduce the negative effects of using synthetic plastic, as a food wrap. However, in this study it was found that the physical appearance was a little thick, and the elongation was not too high, so it was hoped there would be further development of this research.
