Abstract

The involvement of the media in reporting an event is not only seen in terms of reality. Truthfully, the media has its own concerns where ideology, political concepts and cultural concepts function in it. This research focused on reporting that discuss the construction of cement factory on Mount Kendeng, Central Java at Harian Suara Merdeka. This research used qualitative analysis with the framing analysis method. Technique of collecting data were obtained from documentation studies by combining techniques of data analysis using four framing Entman analysis tools, the first was defining problems (define problem): Rejection of the construction of cement factory by the society. The second was estimating the source of the problem (diagnose causes): the construction of cement factory was assumed to damage the environment. The third was making a moral decision (make moral judgment): the construction of cement victory without permission that hadn't been published yet caused conflict. The last was determining problem solving (treatment recommendation): updating addendum documents by the government and updating aspects of conflict triggers. This research showed that Harian Suara Merdeka framing conflicts into two, namely PT Semen Indonesia damaged the environment and the operational status of PT Semen Indonesia was unclear.
