Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) to find out the form of humor contained in the Whatsapp message application (2) to describe the politeness of speaking in humor in Whatsap messages (3) to describe the implementation of humor-based politeness in the Whatsapp application as an alternative teaching material in high school. The method in this study is descriptive qualitative research. While the data source of this research is conversations within whatsapp. And the speakers from this study were high school teachers. The data collection technique in this study is to use the Technique refer and note. The technique of referring and recording is used to collect conversations in the form of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences in whatsapp groups. The results of this study show that 1) There are 12 forms of humor in Whatsapp conversations. Which consists of 1 inline humor, 3 humor breaker, 7 humor dialogue, 4 humorous misconception.2) There are 12 humorous conversations, Of the 12 humorous conversations it is known that there is a wisdom Maxim of 2, the generosity of as many as 4 , the maximal award of 2, the simplicity maxim of 1, the maximal agreement of as much as 1 and the maxim of conclusions as much as 1.3) The relevance of whatsapp message review as an alternative teaching material for Indonesian in high school can be done through several core competencies in the 2013 curriculum in Indonesian semester II subjects. With Principal Material the principle of politeness in language in social interaction. In accordance with the selected basic competencies in the syllabus, which concludes the content of information that is heard through indirect speech (recording or text that is read) and provides criticism of information from print and / or electronic media. The application of the language politeness principle can help the formation of the character of students to communicate more politely so that students are expected to be able to understand speech and interpret the intent of the speech and can practice the use of polite speech in communication.
