Abstract

This study aims to describe: 1. utilization of teaching aids in supporting the learning interest of class V students, 2. obstacles and solutions to the use of teaching aids in supporting the learning interest of 5th grade students in SD Negeri Purbayan 02 Academic Year 2018/2019. This study uses a type of qualitative research. The technique of collecting data through interviews, observation, and documentation. The validity of the data uses triangulation techniques. Data analysis techniques use interactive models. The results showed that: 1. Utilization of teaching aids in supporting learning interests was quite effective, indicated by students who had readiness to learn, learning opportunities in school were used well, were able to pay attention to learning continuously, liked learning, and actively participated in learning. The types of props used are in the form of direct props and indirect props. Choosing teaching aids in learning is tailored to the goals / material and the circumstances of the students. The importance of teaching aids in learning is that students are more interested and interested in learning, easier to understand and remember lessons. The benefits of teaching aids are to help focus students' attention, foster enthusiasm and enthusiasm for learning, facilitate understanding and mastery of material to students in the learning process and not easily forgotten. 2. Obstacles and solutions to the use of teaching aids in supporting student learning interests, barriers include: conditioning students' attention to learning with teaching aids, teacher learning methods that tend to vary less so students are less enthusiastic in learning if teacher teaching is monotonous, teaching aids available in school incomplete, making teaching aids that are in accordance with the material and characteristics of students is difficult, lack of time preparing learning with teaching aids. Solutions include: providing a friendly and attractive atmosphere for students, making simple teaching aids in learning tailored to the purpose / material and readiness of students, applying varied learning methods, and being able to attend trainings or workshops to improve teacher teaching skills.
