Abstract

The dependency of people on rapidly developing technology requires an increasing supply of electricity. In the process, electrical energy is distributed from the generator to the load through several processes and over long distances. This causes the transmission line to be susceptible to interference, so it is necessary to have a protection component. Distance relay is selected as a protection component because of its ability to eliminate interference quickly and effectively. The protection relay work area is divided into 2, namely 1 area and 3 areas. This research was carried out on the transmission lines of the 150kV Palur-Masaran-Sragen substation which underwent a change in the configuration of the transmission line. The research began with conducting literature studies, and supporting data collection. Based on the data obtained, there is a difference in the value of the initial setting with the calculation results, namely area 2 = 0.38 Ω, area 3 = 0.72 Ω on the Palur-Masaran transmission line and area 1 = 0.01 Ω on the Masaran-Sragen transmission line. The difference is relatively small so it can be said that the setting value applied is in accordance with the theory. Determination of fault location with several value of impedance interference tests, for example 0.5 Ω obtained the location of the interference in the 1,19 km transmission line of Palur-Masaran and 1,2 km of the Masaran-Sragen transmission line. This shows the similarity in the value of relay settings between 2 different transmission line configurations.
