Abstract

This research has objective to classify the types of passive voice in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows novel into Harry Potter dan Relikui Kematian. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative. The data are the passive voice from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows novel and Harry Potter dan Relikui Kematian novel as the Indonesian translation. It uses documentation method to collect the data. In analyzing the data, the theory of English passive voice by Krohn (1971), and Indonesia passive voice by Snedon (2010) and Alwi et al. (1998) are used. The findings show that from 182 data, there are three types of English passive voice (EPV) consists of EPV type A with pattern S + to be + past participle (138 data or 75.82%), EPV type B with pattern S + to be + past participle + by (14 data or 7.69%), and EPV type C with pattern S + to be + past participle + to infinitive (30 data or 16.48%). It is translated into three types of voice in Indonesia: a) Indonesia passive voice (IPV) type one with pattern S (patient) + (prefix) Verb + Agent (actor) (108 data or 59.34%) which has sub patterns construction such as di-Verb Base-, di-Verb Base-kan, di-Verb Base-kan-oleh, di-Verb Base-i, ter-Verb Base, ter-Verb Base-kan, ter-Verb Base-oleh, ke-Verb Base-an, , and di-per-Verb Base-kan, b) IPV type two with pattern S (patient) + Verb Base (43 data or 23.63%), and c) Indonesia active voice (IAV) (31 data or 17.03%).
