Abstract

THE EFFECTIVENESS TEST OF ETHANOL EXTRACT OF DEWA PLANT (Gynura Pseudochina [L.] DC.) TO THE MORTALITY OF LARVAE Anopheles Aconitus Vina Mitha Elfera, Nurhayani Faculty Of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta ABSTRACT Background: Dewa plant (Gynura pseudochina [L.] DC.) Is one of the herbs, has active substances such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins that contained in the ethanol extract of the Dewa leaves (Gynura pseudochina [L.] DC.) has activity as natural larvacide. Objective: To determine the effect of ethanol extract of Dewa plant (Gynura pseudochina [L.] DC.) To the mortality of larvae anopheles aconitus Research Method: This research used a laboratory quasiexperimental design that is giving the treatment of the ethanol extract of the Dewa plant (Gynura pseudochina [L.] DC.) On Anopheles aconitus larvae using the post test only controlled group design method. The ethanol extract of the Dewa plant (Gynura pseudochina [L.] DC.) Is divided into several concentrations namely 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 4% in the preliminary test and 0.125%, 0.25%, 0.5%, 1 % of the research tests were repeated four times. Then the number of larval deaths was calculated for 24 hours. Research Results: Based on the results of the Kruskall-Wallis non-parametric statistical test obtained p-value = 0,000, which means there are significant differences in larvicidal effects between groups. Based on the results of the Post-Hoc Mann-Whitney test all concentrations had a significant difference compared to the negative controls. Whereas when compared to positive controls abate, only a concentration of 1% different was not significant. This shows that a 1% effective concentration is able to kill Anopheles aconitus larvae equivalent to abate. Conclusion: Ethanol extract of the Dewa plant (Gynura pseudochina [L.] DC.)
