Abstract

ABSTRACT THE EFFECTIVENESS TEST OF ETHANOL EXTRACT OF MANGKOKAN LEAVES (Nothopanax scutellarium) TO THE MORTALITY OF Aedes aegypti LARVAE Ni Wayan Heldha Nurma Santi, Nurhayani Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta Background: Mangkokan leaves (Nothopanax scutellarium) is one of the herbs.. Active substances such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins that contained in the ethanol extract of mangkokan leaves (Nothopanax scutellarium) has activity as natural larvacide. Objective: To determine the effect of ethanol extract of mangkokan leaves (Nothopanax scutellarium) to the mortality of Aedes aegypti larvae. Method: This research used a laboratory experimental design by giving the ethanol extract of the mangkokan leaves (Nothopanax scutellarium) on Aedes aegypti larvae using the post test only controlled group design method. The ethanol extract of mangkokan leaves (Nothopanax scutellarium) is divided into several concentrations namely 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% in the preliminary test and 0,7%, 0,8%, 0,9%, 1% of the research tests. The research be repeated four times, then the number of larvae deaths was calculated in 24 hours. Results: Based on the results of the Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric statistical test obtained p-value = 0,000, which means there are significant differences in larvicidal effects between groups. Based on the results of the Post-Hoc Mann-Whitney test all concentrations had a significant difference compared to the negative controls. Whereas when compared to positive controls abate, only a concentration of 1% different was not significant. This indicated that the 1% effective concentration able to kill the Aedes aegypti larvae equivalent to abate. Conclusion: Ethanol extract of mangkokan leaves (Nothopanax scutellarium) has a natural larvicidal effect on Aedes aegypti larvae.
