Abstract

The continuity of the furniture industry in Banjarsari District, Surakarta City needs to be known because small and medium industries have decreased competitiveness due to inadequate production costs and bureaucratic services. The purpose of this study is to examine: (1) the strengths and weaknesses of middle and small class furniture entrepreneurs in Banjarsari District, Surakarta. (2) the broad range of marketing carried out by middle and small class furniture industry entrepreneurs in Banjarsari District, Surakarta. (3) knowing the sustainability of the middle and small class furniture industries in Banjarsari District, Surakarta. This research is in the form of descriptive statistics, the population in the study are all the furniture industry business units in the Banjarsari District of Surakarta City, amounting to 139 units of the furniture industry, with the sample in this study 9 subjects of furniture business owners. Based on the Sustainability Analysis of the Furniture Industry in Banjarsari Subdistrict, Surakarta City, conclusions can be obtained as follows: 1) Strengths in internal factors namely raw materials needed in making furniture are teak and acacia which can be easily obtained from Jepara, gemolong, Kalijambe, and Pacitan and weaknesses in furniture entrepreneurs in Banjarsari based on indicators derived from internal factors, namely on capital, labor. 2) The range of furniture marketing in Banjarsari has been out of town such as to Madiun, Ngawi, and GroboganPurwodadi. 3) the sustainability of the middle and small class furniture industries in Banjarsari District of Surakarta has a tendency to decline by 66.6% seen from the weaknesses in the indicator.
