Abstract

ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF THE RATIO OF LOW DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN / HIGH DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN (LDL / HDL) AND BODY MASS INDEX ON ISCHEMIC STROKE Rezy Prasasty Wardani1, Sulistyani2 Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah, Surakarta. Background: The number of stroke patients in Indonesia ranks first as the country with the highest number of strokes throughout Asia. The prevalence of stroke in Indonesia reaches 8.3 out of 1000 populations. This prevalence increases with increasing age. Indonesian national data shows that stroke is the highest cause of death, which is 15.4%. There were around 750,000 strokes per year in Indonesia, and 200,000 of them were recurrent strokes. Aim: To determine the effect of the ratio of Low Density Lipoprotein / high Density Lipoprotein (LDL / HDL) and Body Mass Index to ischemic stroke. Methods: This study used an observational analytic study design with a case-control approach to study the effect of the ratio of LDL / HDL and BMI to ischemic stroke. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Bivariate analysis using Chi-Square. Multivariate analysis using logistic regression test. Results: There was a significant effect between the ratio of LDL / HDL to ischemic stroke (p = 0.035, OR = 3.143) and there was no significant effect between BMI on ischemic stroke (p = 0.148, OR = 0.490). Conclusion: The variable ratio of LDL / HDL has a significant effect based on statistical analysis of the incidence of Ischemic Stroke. BMI variables did not significantly influence based on statistical analysis of Ischemic Stroke events. Keywords: LDL / HDL ratio, Body Mass Index, Ischemic Stroke
