Abstract

Ayu Ayustin / A410130045. Strategy Analysis of Upper School Students in Resolving Combinatoric Problems in SMAN 1 Sambungmacan. Essay. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Muhammadiyah Surakarta university. August. 2018. This study aims to analyze the strategies used by students before receiving combinatoric material, the strategies used by students after receiving combinatoric material, and the different strategies used before and after receiving combinatoric materials. This type of research is qualitative. The subjects of this study were students of class X MIA3 totaling 15 students and class XI MIA3 students totaling 15students. Data collection techniques in this study were tests, observations and documentation. Data analysis techniques are carried out with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing or verification. The validity of the data in this study was obtained through source triangulation by comparing the test results data before receiving combinatoric material with test results data after receiving combinatoric material. Analysis guidelines are developed based on the problem solving strategy of Jones. The results of the analysis of the research data obtained 6 types of strategies used by students before receiving combinatoric material, namely a list of elements that are not sequential from a series of results, pictures or graphs, tree diagrams, variables of reasoning and justification, combinatoric formulas, and calculations without written procedures. strategies are poho diagrams, reasoning variables, combinatoric formulas, and calculations without written procedures.
