Abstract

The background of this research is that morality has a major influence on individual human beings and on a nation. The moral development of students has recently received a lot of attention from the wider community. It is undeniable that there are many cases that occur in the community, such as brawls between students, cases of liquor carried out by students and others. This is the impact of students' moral decline. Because Islamic religious education is currently only transferring knowledge material to students, there has been no process of reforming the noble values of religion to students who guide them so that humans have good personalities and noble character. Thus the purpose of this study was to determine the methods of student moral development applied in schools and the effectiveness of the coaching methods used by moral teachers in fostering morals. this matter is important because the problems of students' moral behavior can be said to be far from religious values. The existence of methods of moral formation in schools is expected to be a reference for applications in other public schools as a way to reduce the mischief of students today. This research is a field research (field research), with a historical or historical approach. Sources of data from this study were at Muhammadiyah 2 Surakarta Vocational High School, while the subjects of this study were moral subjects teachers, Islamic religious education teachers, XI homeroom teachers and students. Data collection techniques are carried out using the method of observing or observing records, interviews and documentation that can support research studies. Data analysis was conducted with a descriptive model that has three components, namely, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the method of moral development applied by moral teachers of Muhammadiyah 2 Surakarta Vocational High School is exemplary method, habituation method, qishah method, mauidzoh method and tsawab method. With the five methods that have been used to produce moral values such as making students diligent in worshiping Allah SWT, making students who are always honest in any situation, can respect others, be trustworthy, help each other in the school environment, and be polite to the teacher and her friend.
