Abstract

The learning outcomes of students for learning are not optimal when the learning method still uses conventional methods, therefore it is necessary to develop learning media. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of educational games as a medium for learning Grade 1 Indonesian in Elementary School (SD). The method used is Research and Development (R & D) with a development model using Waterfall. Data collection techniques used in the form of observations, interviews, pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The data analysis technique used was using the normality test, Wilcoxon Matched Pairs test and N-gain test. The results of the study state that the assessment of media experts has an average of 73.4% which can be categorized as feasible and the assessment of material experts gets an average of 91.6% which is categorized as very feasible. Based on the Wilcoxon Matched Pairs test obtained asymp sig <0.05 which means Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Thus there are differences in learning outcomes from students between before and after using the media. It can be concluded that pictorial puzzle based learning media is feasible and effective to improve students' reading and writing skills.
