Abstract
The contextual approach is an approach developed with the aim that the learning process runs active, productive and has meaning in the lives of students. Not only emphasizes cognitive knowledge but also affective and psychomotor. So that the ability to remember students is not only temporary but can last for a long time. One example of the use of the contextual approach model is found in the subjects of Islamic Education. As explained in Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System which emphasizes the formation of quality human beings who have strong and noble faith and piety. Even though religious education has the function of educating students to better understand and practice religious values in their daily lives so that they are expected to shape the personality of students to have strong faith and piety and have noble character. It not only teaches knowledge about religion but how to guide students to foster religious values in themselves through the application that is done everyday. The implementation of a contextual approach to the subjects of Islamic Education applied at the Gatoh Sukoharjo 2 Public Middle School is the subject of this thesis discussion, with the main issues namely: How to implement the contextual learning model on Grade VII Islamic Education subjects at Gatak Sukoharjo 2 Public Middle School. This research is a descriptive field research (Field Research) with reference to qualitative analysis. While the speakers are Islamic Education teachers, curriculum teachers and students. Data collection uses interview, observation and documentation methods. Data analysis is done by data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that in its application using the contextual learning model is already running but not yet maximal. This is because of the teacher's limited ability to contextualize and the lack of independence of students in obtaining knowledge that only depends on the teacher
