Abstract

Abstrack The purpose of this study was to understand and describe the description of the adversity quotient of persons with disabilities in the BBRSBD Prof. Dr. Soeharso Surakarta. The research method used is qualitative case studies where data collection was obtained from semi-structured interviews and observations with the selection of informants using purposive sampling with the criteria of informants with disabilities in the BBRSBD Prof. Dr. Soeharso Surakarta and proven informed consent. The results showed that persons with disabilities were required to have good adversity quotient because of the fulfillment of four aspects, namely aspects of control, origin and ownership, reach, and endurance. Control, people with disabilities are able to control emotions when they have difficulties with their situation and hear unpleasant words from the community, so that people with disabilities are forced to have their own ways of expressing and controlling emotions that arise by being patient and grateful. Origin and ownership, people with disabilities must not blame others for the difficulties they face but instead place mistakes on their different physical conditions, resulting in a lack of confidence in the community. Reach is shown when experiencing difficulties, persons with disabilities are forced to believe and believe that all problems that arise can be solved by trying, so that it can limit the reach of problems in the future. Endurance, people with disability who have difficulties when they have the motivation to complete and believe that all difficulties have a way out so they are sure they can survive and try to face difficulties.
