Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine: (1) the development of boarding school management in improving the learning achievement of class X students in MAN 1 Surakarta 2018/2019; (2) supporting and inhibiting factors for the development of management of boarding school management in improving class X student learning achievement in MAN 1 Surakarta 2018/2019. This research is a type of qualitative research carried out in the field. This research was conducted in MAN 1 Surakarta. Sources of data were obtained from primary data from interviews with resource persons: headmaster, curriculum officer, boarding school coordinator teacher, and class X student boarding school. Data collection techniques used interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use qualitative analysis consisting of data collection, data reduction, verification, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that: (1) Management of boarding schools in an effort to improve the learning achievement of class X students in MAN 1 Surakarta was carried out well and in accordance with management functions consisting of planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating. Boarding school education management in MAN 1 Surakarta has shown the results of an increase in the quality of Islamic education with optimal learning outcomes; (2) Development of boarding school management conducted by MAN 1 Surakarta in an effort to improve student learning outcomes is through strategies for developing student input and developing learning implementation; (3) Supporting factors in the implementation of boarding school learning management in MAN 1 Surakarta are: (1) internal factors: competent teachers, clear division of tasks and authority, strategic location, and complete educational infrastructure; (2) external factors: higher public interest, cooperation and support from related parties, and government support; Inhibiting factors for the implementation of boarding school learning management in MAN 1 Surakarta are: (1) internal factors: lack of capacity, teachers do not live in dormitories, students' home environment, and high operational costs; (2) external factors: lack of support from guardian parents who only gave full education of children to schools / pesantren. The solution to the cost problem is to add a source of funds from the student guardian to pay accommodation costs every month.
