Abstract

More nutrition is a state of excess nutrients caused by excess consumption of energy and protein measured by weight according to age.Based on the results examination of obesity according to the gender in the city of Surakarta in 2016, the highest obesity examination were found in Laweyan sub-district at PuskesmasPurwosari with a total of 445 people. The prevalence of overweight and obesity in teenagers 13-15 years in Surakarta (10,9%). The purpose of this research is to determine the relation between exposure to junk food advertising and the frequency of consumption of junk food with junior high school teenagers overweight status in working area of PuskesmasPurwosari Surakarta. This research used quantitative observational with cross-sectional approach. The population of this study is teenagers (age 13-15 years) in working area of PuskesmasPurwosari is 520 students. The sample in this research is 107 students using proportionate random sampling. Data analysis using chi-square test. The result showed no relation between exposure to junk food advertising (p = 0,786) and the frequency of consumption of junk food (p = 0,668) with junior high school teenagers overweight status in working area of PuskesmasPurwosari Surakarta. It was concluded that just looking at advertisements would not affect the frequency of consumption of junk food that would continue with the occurrence of more nutritional status if it was not accompanied by interest or interest in the ad. but it is expected that students can still respond to advertisements wisely and adjust the frequency in consuming junk food to achieve normal nutritional status.
