Abstract

Unergonomic work postures can cause fatigue and muscle injury resulting in musculoskeletal disorders. One of the jobs in the informal sector from transportation services that still use the role of human labor is pedicab drivers. Physical activity carried out by pedicab drivers is pedaling a pedicab with a load of ± 100kg. This type of work has a high risk of injury to body parts or skeletal muscle to workers. The results of the initial survey that 12 out of 15 or 80% of pedicab drivers complained of skeletal muscle pain after work. The purpose of this research is to know the relationship between work posture with the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) on pedicab drivers in Delanggu subdistrict. The research design used analytic survey method with cross sectional approach. The population in this study were 42 pedicab drivers. The number of samples was 42 pedicab drivers with exhaustive sampling technique. Research instrument used the RULA method for measuring work posture and NBM for risk assessment of musculoskeletal complaints and questionnaires. Data analysis used chi square test. The result of the work posture on pedicab drivers in Delanggu subdistict mostly have a very high risk of as much as 92,9% and the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) experienced by pedicab drivers in Delanggu subdistrict is more in the moderate risk category, which is 59,5%. The results of statistical test showed no work posture relationships with the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) complaints on pedicab drivers in Delanggu subdistrict (p-value = 0,556).
