Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the obstructions of English teachers in implementing the School Level-based Curriculum in Junior High School at Jogorogo of Ngawi regency. This research was undertaken in four Junior High Schools at Jogorogo of Ngawi Regency, and the writer takes two English teachers from each school as the subject of the research. The methods for collecting data of this research were the questionnaire, observation and the interview. The technique of analyzing data was interactive analysis, the steps are: firstly, the writer classifies the obstructions faced by the English teachers into two kinds, they are: internal problems (obstructions that come from the teachers themselves) and external problem (obstructions coming from the outside of teacher personality). The next step is presenting the detail description of the obstructions faced by English teachers of Junior High School in implementing the School Level-based Curriculum at Jogorogo of Ngawi regency. The last step is drawing conclusion and suggestion based on the data analysis. The result of the research shows that the English teachers in Junior High School at Jogorogo of Ngawi regency faced some obstructions in implementing the School Level-based Curriculum in 2007/2008 academic year. The obstruction consists of internal and external problems. Internal problems related to: (1) teachers perception about the School Level-based Curriculum, (2) lack of teacher understanding about the School Level-based Curriculum and (3) problem related to teaching-learning process. While, external problems related to: (1) lack of information about the School Level-based Curriculum that received by the teacher, (2) lack of facilities/teaching medias and (3) lack of participation of society/School committee
