Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of teacher competence and student characteristics on student character development. This research includes associative quantitative research, which is to find out the influence or relationship between two or more variables. The population in this study were all students of class X Accounting Department of Muhammadiyah 2 Vocational School in North Klaten totaling 80 students. The entire population is taken as a sample so that it is called population research. Data collection techniques using questionnaires. Data analysis techniques used multiple regression analysis, F test, R2 test, and t test. The results showed that: (1) Teacher competency had a positive effect on character building for students; (2) Characteristics of students have a positive effect on character building for students; (3) Teacher competency and student characteristics together have a positive effect on character building for students.
