Abstract

The increasing number of motor vehicles in Indonesia causes the use of fossil fuels increased dramatically. Therefore, it is needed a machine with economical fuel consumption, one of the ways is by using an induction tube device. Induction tube is a device paired on the intake manifold which functions to store some air and fuel which does not fit into the space cylinder because the cycle at the suction step is too fast. The purpose of this research was to know the effect of induction tube with volume variation 125 cc, 150 cc, 175 cc and 200 cc to the achievement motor engine four steps 150 cc which includes torque, power and specific fuel consumption (SFC) by using dynotest device. The method of this research was experimental method with standard procedure of machine performance. The result of this research showed that maximum torque and maximum power generated by the highest volume of 200 cc induction tube that is 10.7110 Nm at engine speed of 5,500 rpm and 8.7620 kW at engine speed of 8500 rpm. As for the specific fuel consumption (SFC) generated by the motor with the lowest possible induction tube volume of 150 cc is equal 0.06388 Kg/Kw.Jam at engine speed of 4000 rpm compared with standard motors at engine speed of 4000 rpm generating SFC 0.07723 Kg / Kw.Jam, means the induction tube 150 cc able to save on fuel usage by 17.29% compared to standard motors, Tube induction motor with 125 cc, 150 cc, 175 cc and 200 cc engine capable of producing SFC below the standard of the engine rotation of 4000 rpm to 8000 rpm. Based on this research, it can be concluded that induction tube is able to save specific fuel consumption of motor (SFC) motors.
