Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of character education through religious activities and to find out what character values are embedded through religious activities. Character education is an education system that implements values to an individual, which includes knowledge, willingness, awareness and actions to be able to carry out commendable behavior to God Almighty, to oneself, others, the environment and the nation and country. This type of research is field research that uses a qualitative approach. Data collection in this study uses interviews, observation and documentation. While the method of data analysis uses descriptive analysis. The results of the discussion showed that the implementation of character education in Muhammadiyah 5 Kerjo Middle School included several activities including tahfidz al-Qur'an which was held 15 minutes before teaching and learning activities, after the dhuhur prayer congregation every Monday to Saturday, reading the Qur'an together every Saturday, social services are held every month and deposited into your traditional service every three months, spiritual Islam is held every Tuesday and Thursday after school and tambourines are held every Wednesday after school. Character education values that are expected to be embedded in these activities include religious, discipline, responsibility, creative and social care
