Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning activity of class X IPS 1 in SMA N 1 Karangdowo in the 2018/2019 school year on economic subjects through the learning method Peer Teaching. This type of research is classroom action research for two cycles. The subject of the research was the teacher (the actor) and the students of class X IPS 1 in SMA N 1 Karangdowo (the recipient of the action). Data collection techniques used include interviews, observation, tests, and documentation. To ensure the validity of the data, triangulation (methods and data sources) is used. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that using learning methods peer teaching can increase the activity of learning economics material Basic Economic Concepts, students in the classroom seen an increase, pre-action number of students’ complete 21 students (58.33%) in cycle I experienced 24 actives of high learning students (66.67%) while students who have low and moderate learning activities are 12 students (33.33%). In the second cycle students who have high activeness rose to 31 students (86.11%) while those who had low activity dropped to 5 students (13.89%). Based on the results of the study that thelearning method is Peer Teaching able to increase student learning activeness in the economics subjects of class X IPS 1 in SMA N 1 Karangdowo in the 2018/2019 school year.
