Abstract

The power transformer is electric power equipment that has the function as a power supply from high voltage to low voltage or from low voltage to high voltage. It is important to protect against power transformers, protection against disturbances that affect reliability in the process of distributing electrical energy to load loads. The disturbance can be minimized even in overcome by using protection system.salah one existing protection system that is defferential release. Rele defferential is one of the protection that is used on the power transformer during interference. This rele works by comparing the incoming and outgoing currents. Rele will detect any interference and order the power cut (PMT) to open (trip). A good protection system is supported by the proper setting of differential releases to prevent the failure of protection and increase the reliability of the transmission system. The method used to determine the defferential release setting is by searching secondary data in PLTA Siman and looking for journal references in accordance with the research done. All data that can then be used as a basis for mathematical calculations manually. From the calculation results obtained the ratio of CT from the primary side of 70kV is 60: 2 A while on the secondary side 6kV is 600: 2 A. From perhitungandi obtain current setting rele differential equal to 0.279 A. In the current disturbance 2000 A in obtaining the current value of 1.781 A Since the current setting is smaller than the differential current then the release will discharge the PMT to break. Whereas in the 1000 A interference obtained by the current value of 0.081 A, the rele differential is inactive because the setting is greater than the differential current.
