Abstract

The Research about the role of PAI teachers in the implementation of religious character through BTA extracurricular at SMA 7 Surakarta is motivated by the efforts of PAI teachers in order to make students have a religious character through BTA extracurricular. The formulation of the problem that was developed by the researcher were, 1) What is the role of the PAI teacher in implementing religious character through BTA extracurricular, and 2) What is the impact of BTA extracurricular in relation with the student’s character. With the formulation 2 of the problem mentioned above, this study aims to explain the roles carried out by PAI teachers in implementing religious character through BTA extracurricular and describing the impact felt by students after doing BTA extracurricular activities routinely. This study uses field type research which is implemented in the form of in qualitative research. Data collection was carried out using the method of observation, interviews, and documentation obtained from SMAN 7 Surakarta. The data that has been obtained is processed using the deductive method, which is to synchronize the existing theories with the facts in the field. The results of the study concludes that the role of PAI teachers in implementing religious character through BTA extracurricular is not only limited in the aspect teaching alone. Teacher must also be an educator Another role that must be carried out by PAI teachers is becoming the informator, facilitator, motivator, initiator, and organizer. BTA extracurricular activities that are carried out routinely have an impact towards the student’s religious characteristics in daily life, such as praying five times a day and dhuha routinely, female students who previously did not worn the headscarf finally have decided to wear the hijab. They are also more tolerant towards peers who cannot read Al-Qur'an.
