Abstract

The development of the world of construction with the latest innovations associated with the support of building structures, paving blocks into a demand that much in demand. Installation of paving block that leaves a gap, can pass water as much as 30% -50%. Paving blocks have many variations in terms of shape, size, style, and strength. Paving block quality is good which has high compressive strength value and low water absorption. Paving block materials consist of cement, sand and water, but in this research the addition of fly ash as cement replacement material in accordance with the planned calculation. This research was conducted with the aim to know the value of compressive strength and water absorption from various variations of paving block mix ratio. So that will get optimal value from paving block. The effect of the addition of fly ash on the mixture of paving block in the ratio of 1:4, 1:5, 1:6, 1:7, and 1:8 with the addition of fly ash of 5% has water absorption of 2,9%, 3,35 %, 3,86%, 5,27% and 5,84%. The effect of the addition of fly ash on the paving block mixture in the ratio of 1:4, 1:5, 1:6, 1:7, and 1:8 with the addition of fly ash of 5% has a compressive strength of 25,5 MPa, 21,5 MPa, 18,33 MPa, 15,17 MPa, and 12 MPa. The results of the optimum compressive strength study are in the 1:4 ratio with the addition of fly ash 5% that is 25 MPa with minimum water absorption of 2,9%.
