Abstract

This research discussed about divorce effect which is depicted on Mitch Albom’s Novel For One More Day (2014). The purpose of this study is to analyze the issue of divorce effect toward child personality based on Psychological of Literature perspective. This research is using two data sources; there are primary and secondary data. The primary data source is For One More Day (2014) by Mitch Albom in English version. The secondary data source is reference that came from books, journals, and articles which is related with this research. The technique of data collection of this research is using note-taking and library research method. The data of this study are analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. The result of this research proposed there are some effects which is weakening the relation between parents and their children when divorce occurs. This matter is followed with weakened capability of child to handle the conflict because the lack of parent’s role in giving guidance and advise. Mitch Albom wanted to show that divorce gave much effect which is influenced child’s personality later on this matter occurs along with the lack or loss of parent’s role and made the child being susceptible to get a conflict because there wasn’t enough capability or guidance to solve it.
