Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine and analyze: (1) the difference between the effect of Brain Based Learning application and Realistic Mathematics Education application toward mathematics learning outcomes, (2) the difference between the effect of creative thinking ability toward mathematics learning outcomes, (3) the effect of the interaction between learning approach with students' creative thinking ability on mathematics learning outcomes. This research is a quantitative research with quasi-experimental design. The population in this study is all students of 7th class in MTs Negeri 1 Surakarta. The sampling technique used is Cluster Random Sampling. The first class was taught using BBL approach and second class was taught using RME approach. The data collection methods are tests and documentation. The data analysis was done using two way analysis of variance with unequal cell with 5% significance level. The conclusions of this study are: (1) there is an influence of learning approach to students’ learning outcome seen from two different learning approaches (BBL and RME), BBL approach gives better result of learning mathematics than RME approach, (2) there is different influence level of the ability to think creatively toward the students’ mathematics learning outcomes, students having high level of creative thinking ability get better mathematics learning result than those having medium or low level of creative thinking ability, and students having medium level of creative thinking ability get better mathematics learning result than those having low level of creative thinking ability (3) there is no interaction between learning approach and creative thinking ability toward the students’ learning outcomes.
