Abstract

This study aims to describe the tradition of village marriage and elopement on Sasak Tribe Sade Village Rembitan Village District Pujut Central Lombok West Nusa Tenggara Province. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Primary data obtained through interview, while secondary data obtained from the literature. The results obtained data that the tradition of marriage Sasak society Sade Hamlet is an inbreeding marriage done with a cousin or cousin. Kawin culik and kawin lari are understood and believed to be a form of honor for the dignity and dignity of the female family, besides that according to the Sasak people, Sade village married to kidnappers and eloped also created a sense of togetherness among all female families. Another assumption about the tradition of abducting marriages and eloping according to society is to avoid divorce and high dowries. Kawin culik dan kawin lari are performed with their own cousins or cousins, and are in the same environment. Then, indirectly will know how the character, character, and behavior of each person around him, so that with such men and women before the marriage is able to sort and choose who will be paired with such a expected possibility of disagreement in households are smaller and able to minimize divorce.
