Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe students’ difficulties and some factors that cause students’ difficulties in solving solid questions. The type of this study was descriptive qualitative. The subject of this study was 4 students taken from all students of class VIIIA in MTs Negeri Sragen. The analytical framework is developed based on understanding concepts consisting of 4 difficult types namely restating a concept, classifying objects based on the certain characteristics, presenting concept in many forms of mathematical representation, and applying concept by algorithm. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the difficulties experienced by students is because students experience errors 57.14% errors, classify objects according to certain traits as much as 60.31% errors, students have difficulty in presenting concepts in a sequential mathematical manner as much as 81% errors , and the difficulty in applying the concept together as much as 77.77% errors. (2) Several factors students assume that the final answer is in accordance with the requests and answers to the problems that are in the students and their children. description, and students only display the memory and memorization of the formula.
