Abstract

This study aims to describe some of the important things that the writer analysis in Arifin C. Noer’s drama. (1) the markers of inter-sentence cohesion on the Orkes Madun II Atawa Umang-umang by Arifin C. Noer, and (2) the use of cross-phrase cohesion marker on the drama script of Orkes Madun II Atawa Umang-Umang drama by Arifin C Noer. This research includes the type of qualitative research in the form of producing descriptive data requires the sharpness of analysis, objectivity, systematic and systemic to obtain interpretation. The data collection techniques in this study is using the method of document analysis and literature study. This research is able to produce 3 kinds of research. (a) of which there are 39 types of grammatical cohesion and 33 types of lexical cohesion in drama Orkes Madun II Atawa Umang-Umangby Arifin C. Noer, (b) was found to be a reference grammatical cohesion signature (reference) there are 15 data. Recovery (substitution) is 4 data, release (elliption) there are 9 data, perjungsi (conjuction) is 11 data. While the lexical cohesion marker there is repetition (repetition) that is 10 data, sinonim (synonyms) was found 13 data, anonymous (anonimi) there are 9 data, sanding kata (collocation) was found in 1 word. And (c), cohesion is used to compose discourse in order to be cohesive. Besides discourse analysis is the practice of oral and written language.
